Cheng Guangxu
Vice President of Xi'an Jiaotong University, China


 


Professor Cheng Guangxu, born in 1960, now is vice president of Xi'an Jiaotong University. He received his Ph.D. degree at Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1993, used to be a Postdoctoral fellow in University of Waterloo, Canada, and did scientific research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Dean, Xi'an Jiaotong University
Vice Provost, Xi'an Jiaotong University

Presently Held Office and Duty:
Vice President, Xi'an Jiaotong University
Responsibilities: supervising teaching and social education of Xi'an Jiaotong University, directing work by education committee, in charge of graduate school, dean office, admission office, office of social education management, engineering workshop, physical education office, teaching and researching section of military theory, College of Continuing Education, affiliated primary school and middle school, independent college running in cooperation with society and other related work.

Research Field:
Areas of Thermal Power Engineering and Engineering Physics, tutor of graduate students in chemical engineering, Chemical Process Equipment. The main direct of his research is on Chemical Process Systems integration and safe operation. Recently years, he has been devoting to research on reliability and safe operation of Chemical System, using FTA and failure mode, effect and FMECA, and other system reliability methods to research and solve fundamental theoretical problems of large chemical systems working over long periodical time.

Academic Achievements:
Previous and current research subjects: "863"exploring project of advanced manufacturing; state natural sciences funded projects (finished 5 as project leader), 1 project by Shaanxi science-technology development plan, projects funded by doctoral center authorized by China's Ministry of Education, and over 20 subjects in industry. Publication of over 70 articles in Chinese and overseas academic journal; obtained 1 patent of invention and 3 patents of utility model. Granted excellent returned scholars by Shaanxi province (1998), first prize of contributing to Shaanxi scientific and technological progress (2001), national outstanding core instructor in university (2002), "Talent" professor specially invited by Xi'an Jiaotong University (2002), “Three-Five Talents” by Shaanxi high-level talent project (2002).
